First, you’ll meet with our Downtown Portland cosmetic dentist at Five Pines Dental for a cosmetic consultation. He will perform an oral exam and discuss your smile goals with you. Together, you can decide what cosmetic treatments, such as veneers, are right for your case.
At your next appointment, Dr. Zeller will clean and numb your mouth. Then, he will remove a thin layer of enamel from each tooth that’s getting a veneer. This is necessary to make sure your veneers fit into your mouth properly and don’t affect your bite. He will then take images and impressions of your teeth, and send this information to a dental lab.
You’ll be sent home with a set of temporary veneers to protect your teeth. Meanwhile, our partner dental lab will build a set of permanent porcelain veneers based on the images and impressions taken by Dr. Zeller. Your new veneers will look and feel natural and will fit into your smile perfectly. Typically, it takes 2-3 weeks to build your veneers and have them sent back to our office.
At your final appointment, your dentist in Downtown Portland will remove your temporary veneers and check the fit of your permanent veneers. If everything looks good, he will use powerful dental cement to attach your veneers. Then, he will buff and polish your teeth, and send you home to enjoy your bright new smile.
Veneers last longer than any other type of cosmetic treatment. They're durable, stain-resistant, and have a lifespan of 10-20 years or longer if you take care of your teeth. As long as you eat a healthy diet, take care of your smile, and see Dr. Zeller every six months for preventive care, you’ll be able to keep your veneers looking great for years to come.
Just brush and floss normally. That’s it! You can treat your veneers just like you would treat natural teeth. However, we do recommend avoiding chewing really hard and crunchy foods or chewing non-food objects with your veneers, since this can damage them over time.
Veneers are one of the most versatile treatments used in cosmetic dentistry. They can be used to treat a wide variety of flaws in your smile, including deep stains, minor chips, uneven teeth, misshapen teeth, slightly crooked teeth, and more. With veneers, you can completely transform your teeth in just two appointments over a period of several weeks.
Yes. During veneer treatment, Dr. Zeller must remove some enamel from the teeth that are getting veneers. This process is not reversible. Once you commit to getting veneers, you must keep them for the rest of your life, so keep this in mind as you consider your options for cosmetic dentistry in Portland.
